From the Superintendent's Desk

It is difficult to hide my excitement after knowing that our former and present boarders are very much keen to open a website about the hall.

This post-graduate hall is situated at the centre of an area where most of the great personalities of Bengal renaissances lived around. To name a few, Raja Rammohan Roy, Pandit Iswarchandra Vidyasagar, Acharya JagadishChandra Bose, Acharya Prafullachandra Roy, Acharya Satyendranath Bose may be mentioned. This plot of land at 1, Vidyasagar Street was purchased by the University from the ancestors of Pulinbehari Das, a noted freedom fighter of our country.

We feel very proud to remember that Prof. Mrinalkanti Dasgupta, a famous scientist and a legendary teacher of the department of Radiophysics and Electronics, University of Calcutta took the responsibility of the hall as its first superintendent in 1965. Then joined Prof. Syamal Gupta, a teacher from the department of Agriculture, Prof. Bibhuti Bhusan Paria, a faculta member of the Dept. of Chemical Engg., Prof. Sibabrata Bhattacharya from the department of Physics and Prof. Pradipta Roy, Principal, ABTA college.

The day to day history of a community residence cannot be kept isolated from the social events. Thus the neighboring winds of multi-fact colour and velocities have also blown through the young minds of the hall.

How can I forget those moments since myself was also a boarder of the same during my post-graduate studies?

Our hall is a notable example of joined family. Here we all, the boarders as well as our non teaching colleagues experience a happy and memorable life.

We all are the residents af a single globe. Whenever your present footprints, please donot make yourself isolated as we nwver want to be isolate from our rich down memory
lane.
