Introduction on PG Hall Calcutta University:
To describe the milieu of something, there has to be some introductory part and in doing that P.G.Hall is of without exception. First of all, there is no need to introduce P.G.Hall as a hostel. It is better to call it a domicile. Imagine yourself as a member of a joint family and feel the unity, the same aroma will be found in this hostel.
It is really hard for oneself to write about P.G.Hall in few words. Even a passage makes a tiny thing in depicting the Hall. Frankly speaking there is no formal “ Freshers’ Welcome “ in the hostel but every year mess committee of the hostel organizes a tour which is sufficient for newbies to get acquainted with hostelites . It is the tradition of P.G.Hall to celebrate this tour yearly. Another great thing is the night of 31st December which has had a shear impact on every present and ex-hostelites. If anyone introspects after leaving the hostel, then 31st night will be the perfect night for recollection.
Saraswati Puja is another trend of the Hall. Every year there is a new theme in the puja pandal which makes P.G.Hall quite distinctive from other hostels. There are lots of other things that would constitute a book namely annual sports, puja holidays, reunion etc.
In nutshell one can’t get the essence of P.G.Hall without residing in it. So it is a fluke for the hostelites of P.G.Hall to have got the chance of entering into this hostel. Moreover it is the only Hall started so early adjacent to Rajabazar Science College. Initially it was the all in one hostel, means it could accommodate all stream of students namely arts, science and commerce and subsequently it is assigned only for pure science along with tech students.
